The Z system takes Elan’s basic S system to new heights. From a sound quality stand point the Z series controllers and amplifiers are simply superb. We have put the Z661 power amplifier into service in a number
of dedicate audio and home theater systems with spectacular results. The system has six source inputs and is configured for six zones but may be expanded
to up to twelve zones if you wish. In keeping with the remarkable sound quality of the Elan Z series components we are recommending the use of B&W loudspeakers in your home. B&W is the world leader in high performance loudspeakers and their architectural models are simply the finest available.

We have included the Elan communications controller with the Z system. This will enable you to use your standard residential telephones as an intercom to speak with callers at your front door, page through your home and enjoy the benefits of the sound system muting and the door chime emanating from your hi-fi speakers.

Your new Elan sound system will feature the remarkable Elan VIA touch panels and VIA DJ music server. This is the point where your new Elan system leaves all other sound systems behind. Other sound systems make use of traditional remote controls or basic keypads for system control. This approach is affordable and makes basic operation easy but really limits system control. A basic keypad will not enable you to surf through your music library, pick your favourite album or artist or even tell you what music you’re listening to now. All that changed with VIA. Now, from a 6.4 inch colour touch panel you can now control EVERY function on your AV system including music selection.

Wouldn’t it be great to have every album you own in one place, accessible instantly from any room of the house? With the VIA DJ music server all your music resides on its huge hard drive and can be distributed to up to 4 zones simultaneously. You can listen to Mozart in the sun room, Kool and the Gang in the exercise room, Diana Krall in the dining room and AC/DC in the Great Room all at the same time. Selecting your music is as simple as walking over to the built-in touch screen, and selecting “Artist”, “Album” ,”Genre” or “Favourites”. A list of all your music will be displayed and you can easily search through your collection or simple go to one of your “Favourites” play list. Everyone in the family can have their own list of favourites. In fact everyone can have multiple lists of favourites if they wish. Once you make your selection the album cover art and song information is displayed on the screen.

Even your FM tuner can be displayed on your Elan VIA touch panel. The frequency and station name can be
displayed in real time as you scan up and down the dial or visit your favourite stations. We have provided three VIA touch screens in this proposal and three standard Z100 keypads for secondary areas. Once you use the VIA, you’ll be addicted.

Your Elan VIA touch panel is also an active video screen. It can serve as an in-wall tv in the rooms in which they are installed and are also configured as security monitors. Once the doorbell rings, your Elan communications controller tells the VIA touch panel to switch over to display the video camera mounted at your front door. You can instantly see who is at the door and decide if you with to answer it with your Elan door intercom.

Your Elan VIA touch panels can also become much more than an audio video system. Elan has partnered with various equipment manufactures in the lighting, alarm, heating and pool control industries to provide integration features that allow you to turn your Elan VIA touch panels into complete home automation systems.
